Smart Money Moving into Business Investments
The number of sophisticated investors making business investments has reached all time highs. One of Australia’s largest national business broking firms Morgan Business Sales has reported that the demand for mid-market sized businesses has increased substantially in 2022.
Morgan Business Sales Director Dru Morgan believes this has been predominantly driven by a change in macroeconomic conditions.
“The combination of a downturn in both the property and equity markets has led many investors to shift their strategy and take an interest in business acquisitions”
According to Mr Morgan, this increase in demand is not concentrated on particular sectors. Rather it’s focused on the fundamentals of good investments.
“The investors we’ve been working with are coming in with an open mind. They’re willing to explore any opportunities where the financials are strong and there’s a high likelihood of a positive return on investment”.
Mr Morgan believes business owners are in a position to capitalise on this surge in demand, provided they’ve planned ahead. Particularly when it comes to financial records.
“A mistake we see many business owners make is not focusing on their financials for the years leading into their exit. Sophisticated investors due their due diligence. Poor financial record keeping and decisions made without the end in mind leading into a sale can cost many thousands from the sale price”
