While the NBA is still leading the way when it comes to crypto partnerships, the new report explains that the 2022 F1 season saw wide adoption of crypto sponsorships across the board. This includes crypto exchange platforms and blockchain technology companies.
Aside from team sponsorships, in 2022, Formula 1 announced that Crypto.com would be the official title partner for the Miami Grand Prix. Additionally, the two have partnered on the Crypto.com Overtake King Award, where fans get to vote for the best maneuver of the day.
In the latest report, Chiliz News breaks down the current state of F1 and crypto sponsorships, providing an overview of each team competing for the 2022 world championship.
As stated in the report, the first F1/crypto sponsorship was announced on March 2, 2021, when Aston Martin and Crypto.com, one of the leading crypto exchange platforms, finalized their sponsorship deal. That same month, AlphaTauri signed with Fantom, an open-source smart contract platform for digital assets and dApps. In the coming months throughout 2021 and 2022, six teams announced that they would have a crypto sponsor in the 2022 season.
Other sponsorships covered in the report include Ferrari – sponsored by a blockchain technology developer Velas, Red Bull – sponsored by crypto exchange platform Bybit, McLaren – sponsored by open-source platform Tezos, and BWT Alpine – sponsored by one of the largest crypto exchange platforms Binance. Currently, the only two teams without a crypto/blockchain sponsor are Haas and Williams.
Chiliz News also reports that Aston Martin was one of the top Crypto.com creators in 2021. After a successful launch, this NFT collection was expanded in 2022.
